Drills for the real case: Fire department exercise at SWIETELSKY in Nußdorf

30.04.2025

As part of a large-scale exercise, around 60 emergency responders from the fire departments of Nußdorf and Chieming, as well as representatives from the district fire inspection of the Traunstein district, faced a challenging scenario at our asphalt mixing plant in Nußdorf.

Two complex operational situations were practiced:
🔹 A fire in the tire storage with several missing persons
🔹 The rescue of a trapped worker from the mixing plant

Under realistic conditions – including dense smoke development and limited visibility – the fire departments were able to train their procedures in fire fighting, rescue operations, and technical assistance. Particularly challenging was the rescue of a trapped person from the narrow access of a mixing arm, which required utmost precision and teamwork.

The exercise was carried out professionally and systematically by the fire department. After just over an hour, all training objectives were achieved. District Fire Chief Albert Rieder praised the effective collaboration and the swift handling of the exercise scenarios.

For SWIETELSKY, the protection of our employees and the safety of our facilities are of the highest priority. Regular exercises like this are an important part of our safety culture. “Despite all precautions, there remains a residual risk. Therefore, it is all the more important that the fire departments know our infrastructure and can practice operations realistically,” explains Stefan Nitzinger, fire protection officer at the Nußdorf site.

As a small thank you for the commitment of the emergency responders, we invited everyone to a joint snack after the exercise.

We thank all participants for their commitment, professionalism, and close collaboration!
