Regensburg is located directly on the Danube – and has therefore always been affected by flood events. To permanently protect residents, infrastructure, and traffic, the city relies on modern technical flood protection measures. A central project in this regard was realized by our branch in Biburg on Werftstraße on behalf of the city of Regensburg.
Technical measures for more safety
The centerpiece of the work is a well-thought-out protection system: 130 earth nails anchor stable support systems, on which precise aluminum protection walls can be quickly erected in case of emergency. Additionally, relief openings and pump pits ensure that excess hydraulic pressure can escape while water is simultaneously collected and diverted in a controlled manner.
Restoration of traffic areas
After the completion of the protection work, the restoration of the traffic areas took place. Approximately 4,200 m² of the asphalt roadway was renewed – an important contribution to long-term safe mobility in this area.
