Emergency exercise of the volunteer fire departments at the premises of the company SWIETELSKY

30.09.2024

At the premises of the company SWIETELSKY in Karlskron, a large-scale emergency exercise of the local volunteer fire departments took place. At 5:30 PM, an emergency call was made regarding a suspected explosion at a filtration system, prompting the fire departments of Karlskron, Adelshausen, and Pobenhausen, as well as the Bavarian Red Cross, to respond with a total of around 50 emergency personnel.

The exercise scenario presented the emergency services with a complex situation: three individuals were considered injured, one of whom was initially missing. Additionally, there was a leak of heat transfer oils, and the temperature in a lignite silo rose dangerously. The rescue of the injured, who were located in hard-to-reach areas, as well as the medical care provided by the BRK, were the main focus.

Several specialized units, including respiratory protection wearers, hazardous materials specialists, and paramedics, worked together to bring the situation under control. A long water supply line from a nearby gravel pond had to be established to provide enough water for cooling and extinguishing operations. The exercise demanded everything from the emergency personnel, both physically and technically, especially given the high temperatures on that day.

Following the exercise, the company SWIETELSKY invited everyone to a joint barbecue to thank the emergency personnel for their commitment. Mr. Sascha Wülfing-Renner presented the helpers with a generous donation on behalf of the company. The exercise once again highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the various rescue organizations and local businesses to act quickly and effectively in case of an emergency.
