Groundbreaking for the partial new construction of the Freilassing primary school

03.07.2024

In April, the ceremonial groundbreaking for the partial new construction of the primary school in Freilassing took place, a project of the SWIETELSKY branch in Saaldorf-Surheim. In the presence of students, teachers, parents, and representatives of the city, a time capsule was buried as part of the celebration.

The event was characterized by the active participation of the students, represented by their student representatives Anna Blum and Kamran Sadykov. High-ranking guests such as Mayor Markus Hiebl, Minister Michaela Kaniber, School Authority Director Helmut Mayer, and Government President Konrad Schober also attended the ceremony.

After a jointly recited poem, Mayor Markus Hiebl and representatives from the school management, the architectural firm, the builders' representation, the parents' council, and the two student representatives placed the time capsule in a prepared shaft in the foundation and sealed the lid with mortar. The time capsule contains pictures and all fingerprints of the school family, building plans, and a current newspaper.

Sustainable Construction in Focus

The construction project, commissioned by the city of Freilassing, has a contract sum of €2,300,000.00 net. Construction is being carried out according to the certification system of the German Quality Seal for Sustainable Building (DGNB) with the aim of certifying the building with an overall fulfillment rate of at least 65% (Gold). This commitment to sustainable construction underscores the importance that both the city and SWIETELSKY place on ecological responsibility.

Progress of the Construction Work

The shell construction work is already in full swing: The first walls of the ground floor have already been poured. In the coming weeks, the earthworks will be completed with the installation of the sheet piles. The SWIETELSKY branch in Saaldorf-Surheim, as the contractor for the construction work, ensures a smooth and timely execution of the project.

The successful groundbreaking marks an important milestone on the way to a modern and sustainable educational institution for the children of Freilassing. We look forward to the next construction progress and the future opening of the new school building.
