As part of this year's general meeting of the ÜGG – Monitoring Community for Track Construction e. V. – RTS was awarded the Quality and Innovation Award 2025.
RTS (Rail Transport Services) from SWIETELSKY has achieved a significant advancement in construction site operations in railway construction with the visual Switch Heart Manufacturing Display (WHSTA). The innovative system provides a simple yet effective solution to largely prevent damage to movable switch hearts during construction activities.
Safe construction site operations through visual display
The WHSTA indicates with a red light signal whether a switch or the movable heart can be safely traversed. Red means Stop – the switch may only be used, with the consent of the infrastructure operator, when the light is not red.
A solution for a long-standing problem
Movable switch hearts are crucial for safe and efficient train traffic on high-speed lines – and at the same time one of the most sensitive and expensive components of railway infrastructure. In construction operations, they are particularly vulnerable to damage and are not protected by signal control. Damage can lead to high repair costs and construction delays.
Thanks to the WHSTA, these risks can be significantly reduced – a real added value for safety, efficiency, and sustainability in track construction.
