Saxony: SWIETELSKY branch in Meißen ensures traffic relief

29.05.2024

The S177 east of the state capital Dresden is undergoing an important modernization that improves both safety and traffic relief in the region. Between the connection to the A17 near Pirna in the south and the A4 north of Radeberg, the SWIETELSKY branch in Meißen has constructed two new bridges. The client was the Free State of Saxony.

The contract volume for this project amounted to around 3 million euros. The construction work took place over the years 2022 and 2023, during which two bridge structures were built. One of these structures was realized as a seamless cast-in-place concrete frame structure, while the second was executed in steel composite construction. The superstructure was mounted from prefabricated composite girders onto the cast-in-place concrete abutments.

The modernization of the S177 and the construction of these new bridges are an important step towards improving the traffic infrastructure in the region and increasing safety for road users. Through the work of the Meißen branch, regional mobility is strengthened and the quality of life for residents along the route is sustainably improved.
