In early November, the extensive renovation work on the Hoischewehr near Gröditz was successfully completed. The facility, located near the B169 between Tiefenau and Gröditz, plays a central role in the water distribution between the Geißlitz and the Grödel-Elsterwerdaer Floßkanal, which converge at this point. The project began in May 2022 and spanned two and a half years until completion.
Background:
- The weir originally dates back to the 19th century and was listed as a historical monument. However, in recent years it has been severely damaged by flooding events. Therefore, a replacement construction at the same location was decided upon, which meets the requirements of monument protection law.
Technical Details:
- Use of specialized deep construction techniques by the Meißen branch.
- Drilling with a diameter of 900 mm and a depth of up to 14.50 m.
- Installation of sheet piles with lengths of up to 14.50 m.
With the completion of the new construction, the functionality of the weir is ensured in the long term, and the water management infrastructure of the region has been sustainably strengthened.
