An important milestone for Oberhausen and the entire region has been reached: The trains are running again! The extensive construction work in the Bünde area has been successfully completed – a joint project in close cooperation with the switch specialists from the Netherlands. This first successful collaboration underscores the strength of international cooperation within the SWIE family.
Comprehensive work and lived team spirit
Our Dutch partners from SWIETELSKY Rail Benelux B.V. have actively supported our team from Oberhausen. Together, we have achieved a lot:
- Track renewal Bruchmühlen – Bünde and Löhne – Kirchlengern: Over 8,500 meters of track have been renewed with the RU800S, accompanied by tamping work, welding work, and the redesign of a level crossing.
- 36,500 tons of old ballast were removed, cleaned, and partially reused.
- 16,500 sleepers and 20,000 meters of rails were replaced.
- 30,000 meters of tamping work and 400 aluminothermic rail welds were successfully carried out.
A successful project with exemplary character
Despite the extensive construction work, the measures were completed in a very short time. The smooth process and the outstanding commitment of all involved demonstrate how successfully we can achieve our goals with team spirit and expertise. With this project, we set new standards and remain true to our claim: We always want to build better.
