SWIETELSKY successfully completes a challenging major project as part of the Nuremberg–Regensburg corridor refurbishment

An important milestone for Bavaria’s rail infrastructure has been reached: with the successful commissioning of the Nuremberg–Neumarkt section, the first phase of the Nuremberg–Regensburg corridor refurbishment was completed just in time for the Bavarian summer holidays. SWIETELSKY Bahnbau Deutschland was responsible for carrying out the approximately 24-kilometre-long construction phase on behalf of DB InfraGO AG.

Overcoming challenges together

Right from the start of construction at the end of February, the project team faced extraordinary challenges. The onset of winter, tight construction timeframes and the complex coordination of numerous trades and project partners demanded the utmost flexibility and precise scheduling. This was supported by a dedicated logistics centre set up specifically to coordinate all material and construction processes.

Despite the challenging conditions, the work was completed on schedule. Throughout the construction period, freight services for regional industrial businesses were maintained, whilst the transport of materials by various construction companies along the corridor was coordinated.

Looking ahead

With the successful completion of the first lot, SWIETELSKY is ideally positioned to tackle the upcoming challenges involved in Deutsche Bahn’s corridor refurbishment programme. Preparatory work is already underway for the next corridor between Rosenheim and Salzburg. Construction work is scheduled to take place from 7 February to 9 July 2027.
