After two months of intensive work, the largest section of the track renovation between Regensburg and Weiden has been successfully completed. The closure of the diversion route Regensburg–Schwandorf was lifted today several hours before the planned closure break ended.
A project of superlatives
As part of the construction measure, the following were implemented:
- 36,000 m of mechanical track renewal including ballast cleaning
- 38,000 t of new gravel unloaded
- 850 SKV welds executed
- 400 m of mechanical soil replacement and 100 m of conventional soil replacement
- 132 bridge beams renewed
- 7 level crossings renewed
- 000 m of conventional track renewal
- 37,000 m of new layer grinding (mechanical)
- 37,000 m of tamping work
- Installation of two rail extensions at the Danube bridges
- 000 m of rail foot cable removed and reinstalled (including delivery)
- 155 hectometer signs removed and reinstalled (including delivery)
Teamwork and precision as the key
The successful implementation of this project in record time was only possible through the perfect interplay of all parties involved. On behalf of DB InfraGO AG, the performance of the SWIETELSKY team was explicitly praised, and the collaborative partnership was highlighted.
