Projekt Freiberg Bohrkernarchiv 1

Since April 2025, SWIETELSKY Deutschland has been delivering the extended structural shell of the future Central Saxon Drill Core and Sample Archive.

Commissioned by the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology (LfULG), the project is being built on Lessingstraße in Freiberg and has a contract value of around €4.5 million.

The objective of the construction project is to centrally house all drill cores and rock samples from Saxony’s state geology service as well as those of TU Bergakademie Freiberg. The project therefore makes a significant contribution to scientific documentation and research in Saxony.

Key challenges & achievements

Excavation: approx. 7,000 m³ of soil
In-situ concrete works: approx. 6,000 m³ for foundations, base slabs, walls and ceilings—partly in high-quality fair-faced concrete
Modern precast construction method featuring:
▸ semi-precast walls and slabs
▸ composite columns and beams
▸ prestressed precast concrete elements

We are pleased to be contributing to this technically demanding project together with all project partners and to be actively strengthening Saxony’s scientific infrastructure.
