After two months of intensive work, the largest section of the track renewal project between Regensburg and Weiden was successfully completed. The closure of the diversionary route Regensburg–Schwandorf was lifted ahead of schedule, reopening several hours before the planned end of the possession.
A project of superlatives
As part of the works, the following were carried out, among other things:
- 46.997 metres of track renewed
- 28 turnouts
- 6.500 metres of subgrade replacement
- 14.445 metres of track tamping/maintenance works
- 1.132 bridge beams
- 7 level crossing renewals
- 5 new crossings
- as well as numerous works on bridges, overhead line equipment and signalling interlockings
